Why We Created Deight

Like many people, we became frustrated with modern dating apps and the way people connect today.

Not because technology is bad, but because somewhere along the way, genuine real-world connection became increasingly rare.

There was a time when people regularly met through friends, hobbies, social groups, shared experiences, and everyday life. Today, many people spend years swiping through profiles while having fewer opportunities to meet new people naturally.

We found ourselves asking a simple question:

"Why does it feel so difficult to meet people in real life anymore?"

The answer wasn't that people no longer wanted connection.

The answer was that our behaviour had changed.

Online dating and social media have made it easier than ever to communicate digitally, yet many people have fewer meaningful in-person interactions than ever before.

As adults, our social circles often become smaller. We see the same people, visit the same places, and follow the same routines week after week.

Meeting new people doesn't happen naturally when there are no environments designed for it to happen.
