Effective from September 2026
1. About these Terms
These DEIGHT Membership Terms & Conditions (Terms) apply to applications for, and approved membership of, DEIGHT, including membership bookings and DEIGHT Members' Socials.
DEIGHT membership is operated by DEIGHT Events Ltd, company number 15135291. Our contact email is info@deight.events.
By submitting an application, accepting an invitation, becoming a member or booking a DEIGHT Members' Social, you agree to these Terms and the documents referred to in them. Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts a legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
2. Important information about DEIGHT membership
DEIGHT is the premium social club for singles over 30.
Membership is by approval for adults who are interested in meeting people in person and participating in hosted social experiences.
Membership is not automatic. It is created only after DEIGHT has approved an application or invitation, you have accepted these Terms, and you have completed any required identity verification before attending a DEIGHT Members' Social.
Submitting an application, receiving an invitation, visiting the website or attending a public DEIGHT Social before approval does not itself create membership.
It is free to apply, and approved membership is free to join. Public DEIGHT Socials are separate from membership, open to guests and members, and attending one does not create membership.
3. Eligibility
Applicants must be adults aged 30 or over, single, genuinely interested in meeting people in person, willing to provide accurate information, willing to verify identity and willing to follow the Member Code of Conduct. Applicants must also have legal capacity to enter into a contract and meet any reasonable event-specific criteria stated before booking.
DEIGHT welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, including trans women and trans and gender-diverse people. Applications are assessed individually and fairly, and no person will be refused for a reason prohibited by the Equality Act 2010 or other applicable law.
DEIGHT does not guarantee acceptance, a match, an invitation to a particular event or a particular social outcome.
4. Applications and invitations
It is free to apply. Every application is individually reviewed. An application does not guarantee approval, membership, access to the Members' Socials calendar, a particular city or a particular event.
DEIGHT may request further information that is accurate, relevant and reasonably necessary. It may refuse, defer or close an application where the criteria are not met, information is incomplete, inaccurate or misleading, verification cannot be completed, the application appears fraudulent or abusive, there is relevant substantiated serious misconduct, capacity or safety requires it, or the application does not align with the genuine purpose and safe operation of DEIGHT membership.
DEIGHT will not refuse an application for a reason prohibited by the Equality Act 2010 or other applicable law.
The possible outcomes are: Approved; Further Information Required; or Application Unsuccessful. An unsuccessful applicant may request a review by emailing info@deight.events. An applicant may reapply later, although DEIGHT may decline a repeated application where there has been no material change.
5. Approval and activation
If an application is approved, DEIGHT will explain the remaining verification steps and any relevant restrictions.
Membership becomes active only after acceptance of these Terms and completion of required verification. Approved members must complete one-time photo identity verification as part of joining the approved DEIGHT member community. DEIGHT may suspend access while verification is incomplete, unsuccessful or under review.
6. One membership
There is one DEIGHT membership. Approved membership is free to join. There is currently no application fee, registration fee, identity-check fee, monthly membership fee, minimum membership term or mandatory subscription.
Once approved and verified, members book and pay separately for the Members' Socials they choose to attend, when released and subject to availability and the booking conditions shown before payment.
Public DEIGHT Socials are separate, open to guests and members, and attendance at a public DEIGHT Social does not create membership. Public event bookings are made and paid for separately under the applicable event terms.
7. Contract formation, payment and prices
Website information is an invitation to apply or make an offer and is not necessarily a binding offer by DEIGHT. A membership contract is formed when DEIGHT confirms approval, you accept the applicable Terms and required verification is complete.
Any paid event prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Payment instructions and any payment-handling arrangements will be stated before an event payment. DEIGHT does not store full payment-card details unless this is stated before payment. You must provide accurate billing information and keep your payment method valid.
If an event payment is declined, reversed or overdue, DEIGHT may cancel or suspend the affected booking, subject to non-excludable statutory rights. DEIGHT may correct an obvious event pricing or description error before accepting an order and will provide any legally required options if an error affects an accepted order.
8. Event payment and cancellation
There are no recurring membership payments. Each Members' Social or experience is booked and paid for separately when available, with its price and cancellation conditions shown before payment.
9. Cooling-off rights and immediate access
If you purchase an event place online as a consumer, you may have statutory cancellation rights subject to the nature and timing of the event. The applicable event information will explain the cancellation and refund terms.
Membership and approval are free. If you ask DEIGHT to begin providing a separate paid service during a cooling-off period, any request to begin immediately and any resulting statutory consequences will be explained before payment.
A Members' Social taking place on a specified date or during a specified period may fall within a statutory exception to the 14-day cancellation right. The applicable event information will explain the cancellation and refund terms. Nothing in these Terms removes a statutory right where its legal conditions have not been met.
10. Members' Socials bookings
Members' Socials places are subject to availability and are confirmed only when DEIGHT issues a booking confirmation. You must provide accurate booking information and attend the event for which you booked.
You must not transfer a booking without DEIGHT's written permission, allow another person to use your membership or verified identity, attend under another person's name, resell a place unless DEIGHT permits it, or bypass eligibility and capacity controls.
DEIGHT may use balanced capacity planning, attendance limits and other operational measures. It does not guarantee an exact gender balance, number of attendees, potential matches or a particular attendee profile. Event descriptions, venues, times, formats and benefits may change where reasonably necessary, with reasonable notice where practicable.
If DEIGHT cancels an event, it will offer the remedy required by law and, where appropriate, a transfer, credit, refund of the affected booking or another reasonable alternative. A person who does not attend is not entitled to a refund unless the applicable event terms state otherwise.
DEIGHT may refuse entry or remove a person who has not completed required verification, cannot provide reasonable proof of booking, appears intoxicated or unsafe, breaches the Code, behaves aggressively, abusively or discriminatorily, presents a safety or fraud risk, or does not meet the relevant event criteria.
11. Multi-city access
Where stated in the applicable membership information, members may access eligible Members' Socials in participating UK cities. Multi-city access remains subject to availability, capacity, event eligibility, booking limits, local operating arrangements and additional event terms. DEIGHT does not guarantee an event in every city or identical benefits in every city.
12. Verified identity
Approved members must complete one-time photo identity verification before attending their first DEIGHT Members' Social, unless DEIGHT confirms an alternative process. The purposes are to confirm identity and age, prevent fraud and duplicate accounts, protect members and venues, support safety and operate a trusted club.
Do not use another person's ID, alter an identity document or attempt to defeat verification. DEIGHT will request, receive, access and retain identity information only to the extent reasonably necessary for the stated purposes and will apply appropriate security controls.
If any verification process involves biometric recognition or other special-category data, DEIGHT will not begin that processing unless it has the required lawful basis, Article 9 condition, transparency information, safeguards and, where appropriate, a Data Protection Impact Assessment. A lawful alternative process will be considered where available.
13. Privacy and data protection
DEIGHT processes personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy and Application & ID Verification Data Notice. Identity documents and verification information are not shared with other attendees.
Information about sexual orientation, sex life, health or other sensitive matters is not requested unless there is a clear and lawful reason. If sexual-orientation information is requested, it will be optional unless DEIGHT can demonstrate a lawful and necessary reason otherwise. DEIGHT will not infer or record sexual orientation merely because someone is interested in a particular event category.
DEIGHT will not make a solely automated decision producing legal or similarly significant effects unless the requirements of applicable data-protection law are satisfied.
14. Member Code of Conduct
The Member Code of Conduct forms part of these Terms. Members must be open, be respectful, get involved at a level comfortable for them, respect boundaries and consent, communicate honestly, follow host instructions and help maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
15. Suspension and termination
DEIGHT may suspend or terminate membership, cancel bookings or refuse access where reasonably necessary because of a serious or repeated breach, fraud or identity misuse, a material safety concern, harassment, discrimination, violence or threats, non-payment, misuse of membership or bookings, inaccurate information, failure to complete required verification, a legal requirement or the ending of the relevant membership category.
DEIGHT will act proportionately and may suspend access while investigating. Where reasonably practicable it will explain the decision and available review route. A member may request a review by emailing info@deight.events. Termination does not affect rights or obligations that arose before termination.
16. Changes to benefits, prices and Terms
DEIGHT may make reasonable changes to membership benefits, events, venues, participating cities and operating arrangements. It will give reasonable notice of material changes where practicable. A change will not apply retrospectively to a booking already paid for.
If a change materially disadvantages a member, the member may cancel before it takes effect, without limiting statutory rights. DEIGHT may update these Terms to reflect law, regulatory guidance, systems, the DEIGHT membership structure or membership benefits and will give reasonable notice of a material change.
17. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, liability under the Equality Act 2010, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to the above, DEIGHT is not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, was not caused by its breach, is a business loss incurred by a consumer, or results from events outside its reasonable control. Nothing guarantees personal safety, a romantic connection, a particular social outcome or a particular attendee profile. DEIGHT will take reasonable operational steps to support safety and respect.
18. Events outside reasonable control
DEIGHT will not be liable for delay or failure caused by events outside its reasonable control, including venue closure, fire, flood, severe weather, epidemic or public-health restrictions, industrial action, transport disruption, government action, power, internet or payment-system failure, security incidents or other events it could not reasonably prevent. Where an event is affected, DEIGHT will communicate with affected members and provide any remedy required by law.
19. Complaints
Send complaints to info@deight.events with your name, membership or booking reference where applicable, the relevant date and location, a clear description and the outcome you are seeking. Complaints involving safety, harassment, discrimination, identity verification or privacy will be handled with appropriate confidentiality and urgency.
20. Consumer rights and dispute resolution
Consumers have legal rights relating to the conformity, performance and fairness of services and contracts. These Terms do not affect those rights. DEIGHT does not commit to a particular alternative dispute-resolution provider unless identified before the relevant service or required by law. Nothing prevents a member from contacting a regulator, ombudsman or court where entitled to do so.
21. Assignment and third-party rights
DEIGHT may transfer or subcontract its rights and obligations where reasonably necessary to operate DEIGHT membership, provided this does not reduce your legal rights. You may not transfer membership or rights under these Terms without DEIGHT's written permission. No person other than DEIGHT and the member may enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 unless these Terms expressly state otherwise.
22. Severance
If a provision is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, it will be treated as modified or removed only to the extent necessary. The remaining provisions will continue in force.
23. Entire agreement and order of priority
These Terms, the applicable membership information, relevant event terms, the Privacy Policy and the Member Code of Conduct form the agreement between DEIGHT and the member about DEIGHT membership.
If there is a conflict, mandatory law takes priority; specific event terms take priority for that event; the applicable membership offer takes priority for pricing and benefits; and these Terms apply to other matters.
24. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, unless you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland and mandatory local law gives you additional rights. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that consumers resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in the courts of their home jurisdiction where permitted by law.
