Effective from September 2026
1. PURPOSE
DEIGHT is the premium social club for singles over 30. We aim to create a welcoming, safe and respectful environment in which people can meet and engage with others in real life.
Our guiding principle is: Be open. Be respectful. Get involved.
This Code applies to applicants, approved members and anyone taking part in a DEIGHT event.
2. EXPECTED STANDARDS
- Treat members, venue staff and DEIGHT staff with courtesy and respect.
- Be open to meeting and speaking with others without pressure or expectation.
- Respect personal boundaries, privacy, consent, names and pronouns.
- Follow reasonable instructions from DEIGHT hosts, venue staff and event security.
- Contribute positively to the atmosphere of DEIGHT events and raise concerns promptly if something feels wrong.
Being quiet, shy, nervous or introverted is not a breach of this Code or a reason to treat someone as unsuitable for membership.
3. UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT
DEIGHT does not permit conduct that is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, exploitative, unsafe or disruptive. This includes:
- Harassment, bullying, intimidation, threats or physical violence.
- Hate speech, slurs or discrimination relating to a protected characteristic, including age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or pregnancy and maternity.
- Unwanted sexual comments, advances, touching, propositions or pressure.
- Persistent unwanted contact, following, cornering or refusing to respect someone's decision not to engage.
- Misgendering someone deliberately, or disclosing another person's sexual orientation, gender identity, health information or other private information without permission.
- Sharing personal information, images, recordings, messages or contact details without consent, or unauthorised recording, photography or livestreaming of members.
- Excessive intoxication, drug use, or attending while unable to behave safely and respectfully.
- Commercial solicitation or sales activity DEIGHT has not authorised, or bringing an unauthorised person to an event.
A genuine mistake that is promptly corrected will not normally, by itself, result in disciplinary action. DEIGHT may act where conduct is deliberate, repeated, hostile, serious or causes harm or a reasonable risk of harm.
4. REPORTING CONCERNS
Report a concern to a DEIGHT host at the event or by emailing info@deight.events.
Where possible, include the date and location, the people involved, what happened and any relevant evidence.
Reports are handled as sensitively and confidentially as reasonably practicable, and information may be shared where necessary to investigate a concern, protect someone from harm, comply with a legal obligation or involve venue staff or the emergency services.
DEIGHT does not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a genuine concern.
5. DEIGHT'S RESPONSE
Depending on the circumstances, DEIGHT may speak privately with those involved, ask a person to stop particular conduct, arrange support, ask a person to leave, restrict bookings or access, suspend or terminate membership, or contact venue management or the emergency services.
DEIGHT may act on concerns raised by members, staff, venue personnel or other reliable sources, and may take precautionary action while a concern is assessed.
6. SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION
DEIGHT may suspend or terminate membership, cancel a booking, refuse entry or decline a future application where it reasonably considers this Code, the Membership Terms or event rules have been breached; information is materially false or incomplete; identity or eligibility cannot be reasonably verified; or continued access would be inconsistent with the safe operation of DEIGHT.
Decisions will be applied consistently and proportionately, and will not be based on a protected characteristic or on a person raising a genuine concern. Where reasonably practicable, DEIGHT will explain the decision and any review route.
7. ACCEPTANCE
By applying for, accepting or using DEIGHT membership, you confirm that you have read and agree to comply with this Code, the DEIGHT Membership Terms & Conditions and reasonable event or venue rules.
Applications are reviewed individually, and applying is free and does not guarantee approval.
DEIGHT reserves the right to refuse any application without giving a reason.
DEIGHT may update this Code where reasonably necessary. The current version will be made available on the DEIGHT website.
